Boarding and Day School for boys aged 7 - 18 years

BSA Committee

The Bedford School Association (BSA) Committee is a Sub Committee of the School Governors (The School Committee).

The role of the Committee is to manage in a joined up manner all aspects of the School’s interface with alumni, in the broadest sense. Developments and ideas can be shared for the mutual benefit of all parties. It is recognised that support to the School comes in many different forms, all of which are valued. The Committee is to review, advise and, where appropriate, to make recommendations to the School Committee.

The Committee will concern itself with matters of policy, performance and strategic issues, leaving operational matters to the School Management Team, and the individual organisations represented by the BSA.

From the Chairman

'As a Governor I was thrilled to be asked to Chair the new Bedford School Association (BSA) Sub-Committee from September 2011. On this Committee there is representation from the Old Bedfordians Club, Prep School Parents’ Association, Upper School Parents’ Guild, past parents, Foundation and the School. As a current parent and an Old Bedfordian with many family connections to the School I believe that we are all privileged to belong to such a special school community, whatever our individual link. Many schools would like to have a similar joined-up approach incorporating all elements of the community, but are unable to achieve this for a variety of reasons. Our ability to work together, I believe, says a lot about our alumni and the School. With so much going on, there is certainly a need for a coordinated approach, but I remain mindful that each organisation has a different identity and different audiences/membership, and that support comes in many forms.

These certainly are exciting times and I would like to thank all those who have helped to bring the BSA together. I recognise that we all lead busy lives, but I would encourage you to get involved and to support one of the many events on offer, be it in Bedford or further afield.'

Hugh Maltby (1973-83)
Chairman of BSA Committee
