Membership of the Foundation
All donors who make a gift worth £1,000 or more over a five year period or less, (including any tax claimed by the Foundation as a direct result of the gift), will be eligible for election as a Member of the Foundation, by the Trustees.
Membership is for life. Members are entitled to attend and vote at general meetings of the Foundation and to elect three of their number as Trustees.Elected Trustees must be Members of the Foundation before they are proposed for election. The two Trustees nominated by the School Governors and the Head Master are also Members of the Foundation.

The Trustees have decided to introduce six grades of membership to recognise the differing value of Members' donations to the Foundation (including any associated tax claims) over a five-year period:
Benefactor
This category is restricted to those donating a total of £250,000. Names of Benefactors are read out in perpetuity in Chapel at the annual Founders and Benefactors service
Patron
This category is for those donating between £100,000 and £249,999
Vice President
For those donating between £50,000 and £99,999
Fellow
For those donating between £25,000 and £49,999
Member
For those donating between £5,000 and £24,999
Associate Member
For those donating between £1,000 and £4,999
Donor's Charter
As a donor to the Bedford School Foundation we stand by our pledges to you:
- We will regularly publish information about the Foundation’s objectives, activities and progress, including appropriate financial information.
- The Trustees will always exercise appropriate judgement and integrity when managing the affairs of the Foundation.
- We will take account of the views of donors, as expressed by the members of the Foundation. The Trustees will call a general meeting of the members at least once a year.
- If you specify a particular project when you make your donation, we will ensure that it is devoted to that project.
- If you request anonymity, we will treat your donation as confidential.
- We will acknowledge your donation appropriately as soon as possible after we receive it.
- We will publish the membership list, including grades of membership, at least once per year.
- We will confirm with the School the naming of a building, part of a building or award after yourself or a person nominated by you before accepting any donation tied to naming.
