OB Cricket Club

Cricket is one of the Old Bedfordian Clubs' strongest sports with a broad and ever-expanding fixture list. The main focus of our year is OB Cricket Week which runs in the final week of the School term and culminates with a two day game against the School 1st XI. Other regular fixtures span the limited overs, declaration and T20 formats against such opposition as the MCC, The Ousels, The OBMs and their doppelgängers, the Gentlemen of Bedfordshire. The OBCC also competes against the School 2nd and 3rd XIs.

2011 saw The OBCC's first entry into The Cricketer Cup with the first round fixture being an away game against the Old Boys of Bradfield College. Entry into the tournament represents a great step forward for the Club and an opportunity to attract a few of our more illustrious alumni back to don the Old Bedfordian cap. There is also a proposed 2 day in the pipeline to be played in London to once again offer the opportunity of representing the Club to a wider group of Old Bedfordians.

The Club's President is Pip August (56-67), a former fast bowler who runs the Club with an iron fist. The Captain is Tim Chapman (88-98) whose zen-like calm and lifelong commitment to punctuality and discipline have brought him great success in recent years. They are ably supported by Charlie Wren (95-06), the Club's Vice Captain and fitness guru and Will Aitkenhead (04-09), the Secretary and group psychology expert.

The OBCC also holds an annual golf competition (see Calendar for details) to which all are welcome.
