Boarding and Day School for boys aged 7 - 18 years

OB Rifle Club

The Bedfordians Rifle Club remains very active, competing in a number of competitions at Bisley each year in the spring, summer and early autumn. There is also always a good representation of Bedfordians at the Imperial Meeting at Bisley in July, the biggest and most famous event in world target rifle shooting, usually with a considerable degree of success. The Club is open to OBs and their families and family members have much enhanced the life of the Club in recent years. The Club has some very successful Rifle Club members.

Paul Sykes (son of Andy Sykes 62-73) toured Canada in August 2010 as a member of the GB team achieving the highest score in the Commonwealth Match against Canada and the USA to take the trophy for Great Britain. Paul was also selected as a member of the Great Britain 2011 Palma team.

Nigel Penn (65-69) was selected for the Great Britain Rifle Team tour to South Africa in 2012 and has also been appointed captain of the team’s tour of the West Indies in 2013.

For 2013, the OB vs. School Rifle Shooting Competition has been reinstated, thanks to the organisation and enthusiasm of Natalie Tekell-Meller Master i/c of Shooting and Peter Lumley-wood (84-89). It will take place on Saturday 16th March; the team will meet at The Three Tuns Pub in Biddenham at 12pm for a pub lunch and then get to school at 2pm for the OB vs. School Match. This will be followed by a cooling off period and then dinner at a restaurant tbc in town then on to a pub.

We also want to thank OBs Nich Hudlestone (78-83) and Julian Hilton-Johnson (79-82) for them creating a page on It is an online invitation site which on which you can confirm your attendance to any or all of the parts of the day.
