President: Andy Gomarsall MBE (1998-1993- Redburn)

Andrew Gomarsall had an impressive sporting career at Bedford School representing the School 1st XV rugby, 1st XI Hockey and 1st XI Cricket. He sprang to national prominence in the world of rugby when he captained the 1992 England Schools U18’s to their first grand slam in 11 years. On leaving the school he went to Oxford Brookes University, combining his studies in marketing management and tourism with the start of his professional rugby career.

Andrew gained a wealth of rugby experience both at English Premiership and International levels, amassing 200 premiership appearances and scoring 15 tries. During his thirteen years of playing top level rugby, he joined seven Premiership clubs: London Wasps, Bath, Bedford, Gloucester, Worcester, Harlequins and Leeds. Capped 35 times for England, Andrew took part in three Rugby World Cup campaigns. He is a proud member of the England 2003 Rugby World Cup winning squad, and the England 2007 Rugby World Cup Finalists squad. He was awarded an MBE in January 2004.

Andrew has gone on to develop his coaching qualifications in order to become a professional coach and manager. In addition he has set up a consultancy for professional and grassroots sport, covering business development as well as which he will be developing his business career and raising money for the Rugby Players Association Benevolent Fund and supporting the ‘C Group’ Charity of the Royal Marines.

Andrew is an ambassador for many charities including Sparks, NSPCC, FIT (Fields in Trust), Wooden Spoon and is President of the League of Friends at the Nuffield Orthopedic NHS Hospital in Oxford
